Pokemon Generation V to Launch This Year!

Above we have a silhouette of a new Pokemon that will be appearing in the next generation of the Pokemon world. This is all we have at the moment of a new generation of the Pokemon franchise. This is very exciting news considering the fact that, like myself included, we thought Gen IV was the last installment into the Pokemon world. I guess Nintendo and Game Freak have proved us wrong, in a good way! Look here for more details as they roll out.

P.S. Be sure to stop by your local Gamestop and get your "Pikachu Colored" Pichu to help you access a special treat in the new Heart Gold/Soul Silver games! The giveaway goes until Feb 15th!

It's The Lightning Round: Reviews and More!!!

Since I have signed up for GameFly, I now enjoy gaming at a much faster rate than if I had purchased all these games.  First, its a money saver! Also, I enjoy the titles I would have shied away from due to prices and mixed reviews..I have played a few games and as always want to offer you the readers some insight on the following tittles.

Wolfenstein (PS3): 2/5 - Not a great game, the camera work can get you motion sick at times.  The Occult and Nazi mix just does not work. I got half way through the game and sent it back.  Keep this at the bottom of your queue as a filler title when you main titles are finished with...

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (PS3): 3.5/5 - OK game,  The gameplay and controls were great to work with, however there is just something about this game that fails at keeping the player hooked and in turn makes it a chore to progress through the game. Again a decent filler game for some decent western shoot 'em up action.

UFC Undisputed 2009 (PS3): 4/5 - Fun game, who doesn't want to control some of the worlds best fighters and beat some people to a pulp? Can get repetitive though.  Might be worth a buy, it's worth renting for sure!  Controls could use some work, the ground game is a bit tough to get down.  Most of the time the fight ends in a KO (Great animation though)!

WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 (PS3) 4/5 - Same as UFC but in the WWE world.  If you are a fan of wrestling, rent or buy this title.  Story mode keeps you occupied and there is much more beyond that.  Always something to do in the game for sure.  Refined feel, good control scheme. I have no issues with it, other than it might get a tad boring after a long session.

Expect more game reviews in the future!

In other news...

SyFy is hosting it's annual New Years Twilight Zone marathon.  It's always good to enjoy some quality TV and nothing beats the Twilight Zone.  What is/are your favorite episode(s)?  Mine are Perchance to a Dream, Obsolete Man and A Game of Pool.

Google is launching its Nexus One which will cost $530 without a plan and $180 with a TMobile plan.  Good move, however I think Google is risking saturating the market and, isn't this just a Google branded HTC handset?!? Good to see the Goog' trying though! iPhone Killer?! Thoughts?!

The NFL season is drawing to a close and the Post season starting in a couple of weeks!  With the Saints slipping the NFC could be anyone's game. I would not mind seeing the Eagles and the Vikings as a potential NFC Championship game. The AFC in typical fashion has the Colts and the Patriots. Choosing one of these teams is always a safe bet for the Super Bowl.  Do not rule out the Chargers though! What teams do you see in the Super Bowl?  Go Eagles!!

January 3rd, 2010: Mark this date down in your calendars folks.  History is made as Super Chef Emeril Lagasse makes his Kitchen Stadium debut and tags with Iron Chef Mario Batali to do battle with Iron Chef Bobby Flay and White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford!  The secret ingredient is of national importance!  For all you Iron Chef fans both old and new this is a battle you cannot miss!  I'm going with Lagasse/Batali to win.  Agree or Disagree??

Much more to discuss but, it will have to wait for another day..So STAY TUNED!!!

Prepare to Fight the Horde! Left 4 Dead 2 Review

What better way to crack a smile than to pump some zombies full of lead! This game is simple survive the zombie outbreak. You are one of four people (Ellis, Coach, Rochelle and Nick) using all available weaponry to get through 5 campaigns. There are pistols, shotguns, rifles and the occasional grenade launcher to pick as your primary weapon. Then you have anything from a frying pan to a chain saw to use and a melee weapon. Your goal is: slaughter zombies.

This game was done by valve, so if you have played ANY Half Life game you know just what's in store for you. The controls are rather easy to learn, and the gameplay is rather linear. Go from safe house to safe house, amassing an artillery and some medical supplies. After a while the game gets repetitive and it becomes a chore to keep fighting the hordes of zombies. The chit chat from character to character is amusing. There are points in the game where it gets frustrating, but nothing is to difficult to handle.

A great rental indeed!  If you are looking for a decent shoot em up with a zombie twist, that does not require hiding behind a wall from 4 hours and calling out commands to your team. Then this one is for you!

I give this one: 4/5

"I Looked at the Trap Ray!" Ghostbusters: The Video Game Review

Forgive me as I know this game came out some time ago, but it was one of the games I felt compelled to play at one point or another. So, I rented it from GameFly (AWESOME SERVICE! Highly recommended!)  For those who have not played this game yet...let me spare you 6 hours and tell you that to stay away from this game. Sure the rabid Buster fan will love the visit back to New York 1991 and to see the old gang again, however I a huge fan of the movies can say that the nostalgia wears off rather quickly.

The game is horrid to play at times and feels like a chore.  There are times where you sail through a whole chunk of the game only to reach a point where it takes you quite a while to accomplish a simple task of opening a gate.  The plot is tossed out the window in the latter parts of the game, as if there was such a detailed plot to begin with.  You will find yourself using the proton stream and boson darts for the majority of the game.

All in all it was fun to be a Buster, but the story and nostalgic feeling just couldn't compensate for the terrible gameplay.  If you do want to give this game a go, rent it.  Even at a low price of 20-30 dollars its not worth the purchase. After the story there is absolutely NOTHING to do in the game aside from collecting items/scans you might have missed or a terrible multiplayer feature.

I give it a very generous: 2.5/5

P.S. Pete Venkman was written as an absolute prick...

Winning Trophies (A Manchester United Poem)

This is a little something I wrote up in honor of Manchester United's recent 4:0 win over West Ham United.

I'm forever winning trophies
Pretty trophies everywhere.
They shine so fine.
They are divine
Like an immortal they never die!
Fortunes never hiding
I never had to look anywhere
Im forever winning trophies
Pretty trophies everywhere!

Man United! Man United!!

KEEP THAT RED FLAG FLYING HIGH BECAUSE MAN UNITED WILL NEVER DIE!

Nulla è Reale, Tutto è Lecito. Assassin's Creed II Review!

Your name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze.  You are an assassin in Renaissance Italy.  Your mission: Revenge!

I'm really not going to bore you all with all the details of the story because frankly there is too much of it.  So we start off as Desmond again, he breaks out of Abstergo with Lucy and then finds his way to a hideout; then enters the Animus 2.0.  We are now whisked away to Late 1400's Italy (Boy does it look great!)  After some short scenes we are on our way to the meat of the game!

It controls pretty much the same as the first. only much more fluid.  You are now given two hidden blades, not one.  You also have access to a wide variety of weapons, whether they be spears or brooms.  You can now poison people and gain access to a firearm much later in the game.  Best part of this game is the currency system, as it adds much needed depth to the series.  AAAAND water does not kill you!!

Aside from the occasional Free Run nuisances it plays pretty well.  Nothing in the game is impossible to handle,  Things might appear difficult but if you take a minute and plan things out the game becomes much easier to play.  Once you spend a few minutes in the beginning toying around with the physics and feel of the game it becomes natural to run across the vast landscapes.

Combat can be tricky at times, best course of action is to assassinate all enemies using the hidden blades.  If not Counter/Dodge/Disarm works wonders.

The detail is amazing!  When you reach the highest viewpoint in a given city and just toy with the camera you see just how much work was put into this game! Excellent work! Not much more to say about that

Get this game, you will not be disappointed.  The ending is a little questionable.  There is always something to do even after you complete the story.  Various side missions and glyph hunting to unlock "The Truth."  You can invest in your villa, and gain money on your investment.  There is much to do, but not so much where you feel swamped with side missions.  The Story is great,  the game looks beautiful.  Seriously though, who wouldn't want to control the deadliest assassin in all of Italy?

Rating: 4.5/5

A Question That Was Asked in Passing....

While chatting with one of my friends about the political lens of the US, and talking more in depth about my previous piece on the current problems in modern day US politics.  They asked me a simple yet complex question:  If you had the power to write an amendment (or alter one of the current amendments) what would it be?

I really had to think about this one; to imagine I had the power to write an amendment and have it pass instantly, or change one of the current amendments to the Constitution is pretty heavy.  After a round of brain debate I couldn't make up my mind between the two options I arrived at.  I explained both to my friend, and they agreed with me.  Lets see if you the reader agree as well.

I would instantly add freedom of information to the first amendment.  This one word INFORMATION means the world to you and I,  instantly we would gain a vast amount of power over all three branches of government and anything/anyone involved with the government.  Not only would we be ENTITLED to information it would be required by law that we have a freedom to it.  This one addition would guarantee that items like Ron Paul's HR1207 would be passed without hesitation, as auditing the Fed would provide you and I information on where our hard earned tax dollars are going and provide REAL TRANSPARENCY to the US Government.  This does not only apply to government, as all information would be a freedom, there would be a surge of learning and mental growth among the population.

The second would be an amendment would be to finally write into law a free market economic system, think Austrian School economics.  With this addition we would instantly gain economic freedom and not be forced to submit our hard earned money to the government.  Which in turn allows the government to fund programs, wars, and policies that are unnecessary, foolish and at times unconstitutional.  Why should we the people submit our money to fund a disorganized, highly polarized, and extremely volatile corporation like the US government.  By passing this into law we instantly curb Corporatism and Statism.  Since we would go back to the gold standard and in turn rid this horrid, nightmare fiat system that we currently have in place.  There would be no excuse for bailouts, corporate lobbying, and most importantly high taxes and fees that only go to failed programs and policies.  This alone would End the Fed, and the Fed is a different story for a different day...

There are several more options I mulled over, but ultimately one of choices would be the one I would go with.  Both are equally important to me so I found myself in a conundrum trying to chose just one of them.  I wish the question allowed me two chances to make/change amendments.  I would love to hear your feedback.   If YOU had one opportunity to add an amendment or alter a current amendment, what would you do?

The Problem with Modern Day US Politics

Let me start off by saying that the current political situation in the US is horrid.  These career politicians are way out of touch with the public, times and most certainly the very law that allows them to hold seat in office.  The fact that there is a 90+ year old senator is a big red flag indeed, and that most of the current house/senate has been in office for 5+ terms makes me a bit worried.  The fact that times have changed so drastically, with the burst of technology, and with that the speed at which information is sent, received and available for public view is so fast it is hard to measure.  Yet there are people in office, who make laws, and who are voted to represent you and I stated that they DO NOT have a personal e-mail address and who condemn technology as some sort of evil force that is threatening our very freedom.  This is laughable, and very much a "give me a break" situation.  I am not saying that the Internet is 100% good, it does have its bad side.  I love the fact that more and more of these younger senators/representatives have profiles on social networks and their own websites.  Yet a lot of the senior gang on capitol hill either have a Twitter/Facebook that is a list of links or small pointless updates.  I think that just as the President has term limits, so should congress.  By placing term limits on congress we the people are allowed to vote in new faces, who might be/are in touch with the modern world.  The argument against this would be; "well I like Senator X and Representative Y so why should I replace them?"  The answer is as follows,  even though it is reported by the media that they are doing a good job, the current picture of the US board as a whole proves that congress is not doing so well.

The second order of business is the first and LAST time I will ever talk about these next points.  I like to call these points: Emotion Issues.  These are the issues that DO NOT BELONG IN POLITICAL DEBATE, DISCUSSION OR CAMPAIGN.  Such issues are abortion, drugs, religion, etc.  These are all based on emotion, and EMOTION CAN NEVER BE POLITICAL.  The government's sole job (originally) was to provide for the common defence and make sure that all contracts are abided by.  IT IS NOT governments job to tell you how to live.  It is my belief that if you want to smoke cigarettes, and studies prove that they do harm, and YOU STILL smoke; it is not my job as the government to stop you.  The government is not a nanny, parent, guardian.  AND IT NEVER SHOULD BE!  It is your choice what you do with your property (your body) and your life,  IT IS NOT YOUR CHOICE TO FORCE YOUR DECISIONS AND BELIEFS ON OTHERS!  That simple statement is the definition of liberty.  It was a main point in the creation of this country that church and state shall NEVER mix,  yet when I see Jesus being forced into the health care debate, it makes me worried.  No where in the constitution does it say Jesus shall always be a center piece in the government, nor have I seen anything about health care being a right in the constitution either.  All these issues that are the focal points of the American political lens are emotion based and should be ousted from the halls of capitol hill, the white house and the supreme court.  These are PERSONAL matters that you have a right to have YOUR OWN opinions on.  There is no law that condemns you from hating marijuana or from being pro-choice for abortion, however these issues should not be a part of the governments agenda.  As stated above: The government is not your nanny, parent, or guardian.  Nor should we give it the power to take on these roles.  Everyone is entitled to life, liberty and happiness.  And in no time what so ever should we submit these basic rights to anyone.  And in no time should any individual or group impede/trample these basic rights.

So in closing, I would implore you to get emotion out of politics/government, and to get out there and make a change because we need one about now.  Remember it is the basic rights talked about above that have made us "a land of the free, and home of the brave."  There are many potential senators/representatives that believe in protecting these rights.  All you have to do is support these people, regardless of Republican/Democrat.  The problem is that the government has gotten to big and its time to put it on a rather large diet.  Get rid of these career politicians, allow us economic freedom, and most importantly reinstate the constitution!
